What is Word Count?
The Word Count tool provides real-time analysis of your text, including word count, character count, sentence count, paragraph count, and reading time estimates. It's perfect for writers, students, and content creators who need to track their writing statistics.
How to Use
- Type or paste your text into the text area. Metrics will update automatically as you type.
- View real-time statistics in the Metrics panel on the right side (desktop) or tap the metrics button (mobile).
- Use the toolbar buttons:
- Undo/Redo: Undo or redo your changes
- Copy: Copy all text to clipboard
- Clear: Clear all text
- Export: Download text as a .txt file
- Save: Save your document (requires account)
- Keyboard shortcuts:

Metrics Explained
- Words: Total number of words in your text
- Characters: Total character count including spaces
- Characters (no spaces): Character count excluding spaces
- Sentences: Number of sentences (ending with . ! or ?)
- Paragraphs: Number of paragraphs (separated by blank lines)
- Reading Time: Estimated time to read the text (average 200 words per minute)
- Speaking Time: Estimated time to speak the text (average 150 words per minute)
